Chioma Nnadi is a fashion journalist, British fashion editor and Fashion News Director at Vogue.com.
On September 18, 2023, Chioma Nnadi assumed her role, succeeding Edward Enninful, the former Editor of Content at British Vogue. Officially, Chioma Nnadi is the first black female editor-in-chief of the British Vogue.
Nnadi was born and brought up in London. Her father was from Nigeria, and had come to the UK to study in the 1960s, and her mother was a Swiss-German nurse. She worked at the magazines Trace and The Fader, having started her career at the Evening Standard newspaper, where she worked on the features desk for its sister magazine.
While the news portrays Nnadi as a "Black Female Editor," anyone familiar with Nigerian names would recognise that she has Nigerian roots, specifically Igbo. Her father hails from the Eastern region of Nigeria.
Nnadi has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature/Letters from the University of Manchester.
In 2010, she moved to the United States to work for Vogue, where Nnadi currently runs the US site, co-hosts the podcast and is one of the magazine’s star writers. Nnadi continued trailing the journalistic path at Vogue and now, at the age of 44, has the impressive title of ‘editor-in-chief’ to show for it.
Nnadi began her career on the features desk of the Evening Standard Magazine, before moving to New York to write for independent style magazine Trace.
She then went on to cover fashion and its links to music for Fader before joining Vogue in 2010.
The 44-year-old Chioma Nnadi boasts an impressive 13-year tenure as a writer and News Director for Vogue, and she co-hosts the publication's podcast, The Run-Through. Additionally, she has spearheaded online coverage of major events, including the Met Gala.
