Emmanuel Osodeke (ASUU President) Biography

Victor Emmanuel Osodeke is a Professor of Soil Science and current National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is a Nigerian Union of University academic staff, founded in 1978. ASUU is an offshoot of the Nigerian Association of University Teachers (NAUT) which was established in 1965. 

Professor Victor Emmanuel Osodeke emerged as ASUU's President on 30 May 2021.

Born on 5th August, Osodeke works as a Professor of Soil Science at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State.

He took over from Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, a professor of education at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, who led ASUU during a period it engaged the government in a long battle for a better funding of the sector, welfare demands and the call for the abrogation of the contentious Integrated Payroll Personnel and Information System, IPPIS. 

Osodeke, a Professor of Soil Science at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, was the immediate National Vice President of the union.

He however emerged at the National Conference following the end of the tenure of Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, promising that the struggles of the union for better funding of the sector and treatment of his members will continue during his tenure.

Professor Emmanuel Osodeke also served as the Director Continue Education Centre (CEC) MOUAU.
He has made servers publications on education journals.

  • Assessment of Potassium Leaching Behaviour in Selected Soils of Southeastern Nigeria
  • Evaluation of Potassium Fixation Capacity and Residual Values in Soils of Southeastern Nigeria
  • Fractional Recovery of Applied Potassium in Soils of Southeastern Nigeria
  • Application of Langmuir and Freundlich Models in Phosphate Sorption Studies in Soil of Contrasting Parent Materials in South-Eastern Nigeria
